Garbage/Recycling/Bulk Collection

1. GARBAGE COLLECTIOIN

 
A. Regular household garbage will be collected Downtown & West Hill on Mondays. & East Hill on Tuesdays. In the event of a Monday Holiday, the schedule will move by one day (Downtown & West Hill) on Tuesday.
East Hill on Wednesday.
B. Garbage must be placed at curbside by 7:00 am. the day of collection and no sooner than twelve (12) hours prior to collection.
C. All garbage must be placed in clear plastic bags securely closed. Plastic bags must be placed in approved trash containers with a total weight of no more that sixty (60) lbs.
D. Household garbage includes animal, vegetable & mineral waste resulting from the handling, preparation, cooking & consumption of food within the household, in additon to items discarded as result of the everyday
livingcycle of the resident.
E. Examples of items that are unacceptable are building materials, carpeting, appliances, household furniture, recyclables. 
F. Garbage that contains recyclables may be rejected. Please comply! 

 

 

2. RECYCLABLE COLLECTION 

 

A. Collection is every other Wednesday starting April 9, 2008. Recyclables must be placed at the curbside the night before collection and no sooner than twelve hours prior to collection.
B. Container group recyclables which include glass and plastic containers, tin and aluminum cans beverage cartons must be placed in labeled containers. container group may be all co-mingled in the same container.
C. Paper group recyclables that include newspaper, magazines and phone books, box board and junk mail must be placed in labeled containers. Paper group recyclables may also be co-mingled in the cane container.
D. Corrugated cardboard must be broken down into pieces no larger than 2 feet by 2 feet and must be tied or bundled. (Pizza boxes are NOT recyclable.)
E. Styrofoam packing is NOT recyclable
F. Residents should call the Village Office at 673-5512 if there are any questions or they require more specifics regarding any of these regulations.  
 
 

3. BRUSH, GRASS, AND LEAF COLLECTION

 

A. Collection is every Wednesday, April 1 through mid October. Materials must be placed at the curbside by 7:00 am. day of collection. Due to volume, collection may run through Friday.
B. Grass clippings and leaves (spring & summer) must be placed in an open, approved garbage container not to exeed sixty (60) lbs.
C. During the fall, leaves must be raked into the terrace, not in to the street, for pickup by the leaf vacuum.
D. Brush must be placed at the curb with the butt end parallel to the street and be no larger than what one man can easily handle.
   
 

4. BULK COLLECTION - for 2010 is as follows: Pickup is scheduled for two (2) dates only. April 28th. and Sept. 29th., both days are the last Wednesday of the month. Pickup of bulk trash for 2011

     and after, is scheduled for one (1) day only, the last Wednesday in July.
